Time changes forests and foresters

 

Dark room. Black screen with blinking cursor. Students sweating. Situation in computer class of Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet Alnarp campus, where all Euroforesters have found themselves. How did students end up with statistics, computers, modelling software, when they came to study about forestry of Baltic Sea countries?

As the change of information is speeding up in the Worlds, so needs to follow the decision making, it needs to be faster. Technological progress effects, and makes it available to model the future for forests growth and desicions made about them and other resources needed in work process. Info technological solutions used for and by tree managers to people managers. To share ideas of concepts of different software and efficiency of work, an Alumni meeting had a topic of IT usage in Estonia. To start discussion and hypothesize about forest management technicalities that, after the brain storming of 136 people, brings to the table even better solutions for 11 countries.

To due SLU teams vision about the necessity of international networking  for future foresters, study methodologies and topics from detailed scientific papers of Whiteback Woodpeckers to the Tönnersjoheden regional forests strategical plans and the need to increase students knowledge of technological equipment and software's, Baltic Sea area has the foresters international alumni network, that shares not only the remark about studying in SLU in their CV, but also broadened view to the trees, increased empathy and the reasoning of one selves actions to the huge beneficial phone contacts list and of course - love towards spruce.

With great ovations we will see our two teachers, PM Ekö and Eric Agestam, enjoying now their retirement opportunities and analyzing has the vision they had about Baltic Sea foresters come true.
